Prince William was called petulant and accused of overshadowing his grandfather's thanksgiving memorial service when he released a statement about the Commonwealth after he and his wife, Kate Middleton, returned from their Caribbean tour. Some were concerned that he created unnecessary drama and stole the limelight from what may be Queen Elizabeth II's last public sighting.
The Duke of Cambridge allegedly overshadowed his grandfather, Prince Philip's memorial, by creating unnecessary drama. Carole Malone, an English TV presenter, and journalist, made the comment against Prince William after the latter released a statement supporting the Caribbean nations — Belize, Jamaica, and the Bahamas — that wished to be independent of the monarchy.
For Malone, while Kate Middleton's husband's statement warmed the heart of some royal fans, it was a display of "petulance."
"William has created a row that never needed to happen," Malone said, per The Express reports. "This is his petulance, I think as well, we thought he’d change and become a bit of a grown-up, but he hasn’t."
She continued, "Have we forgotten that tomorrow is Prince Philip’s memorial? It could well be the last public outing that the Queen does. He has now overshadowed what may be her last public appearance with this row that never needed to happen. He didn’t have to say anything, he could have just kept his mouth shut, he could have just thought of his gran instead of going on and responding to criticism of him."
Dan Wootton also said that Prince William's move to address the backlash from the Caribbean tour was unprecedented. The royals usually ignore criticisms due to their mantra.
"Huge risk to publicly disavow the ‘never complain, never explain’ mantra," the GB News host said.
The concerns about the Duke of Cambridge overshadowing Prince Philip's memorial service were forgotten on the day itself. What caught the public's attention was Queen Elizabeth II's escort.
Her Majesty arrived at Westminster Abbey with her favorite son, Prince Andrew, as her escort. The 95-year-old royal had a walking stick in one hand, and held her son in her other hand. The Duke of York became front and center at the event because he was the one who assisted the Queen when she made her way inside the chapel.
The sight of Prince Andrew raised several eyebrows because they didn't expect to see the disgraced royal taking the center stage. However, according to royal biographer Robert Jobson, it was the Queen who "insisted" to have her second son as her escort despite the disapproval from senior members of the royal family.
"It does make some sense that he accompany her because he doesn't have a partner," Jobson told People. "A settlement has been paid, but he's guilty of nothing in the eyes of the law. She has faith in Andrew. Even if he disappears from public life, he's been able to pay tribute to his father, who after all, was very proud of his service in the Royal Navy, where he fought in the Falkland Islands conflict."
Kate Middleton and Prince William are relocating to Windsor. However, the reports about them moving closer to the Queen brought back the breakup rumors after several netizens shared their speculations about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridges' marriage.
A few weeks ago, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were hit with breakup rumors after MSN published a report from a French website called Oh My Mag claiming that the royal couple's marriage was already over. MSN even tweeted the report with a photo of Prince William and Middleton with the headline "Prince William and Kate Middleton separate as Duchess moves out with children," Cosmopolitan reported.
Royal biographer Robert Jobson tweeted about the Cambridges' move to Windsor and seemingly questioned it because they spent millions on the renovation of their home in Kensington Palace. Some commented, pointing out the marital rumors between the couple.
"Changes being William will no longer pretend he lives with Kate," one commented. Another user agreed, commenting, "100 percent this. That 'marriage' isn't fooling anyone."
"Prince Charles had Kensignton Palace + Highgrove before his Divorce, then St James & Highgrove. Can't William and Catherine not have Kensington and a country house???" a third person opined.
"One main residence for William, KP. One main residence for Kate and the kids, Windsor Estate. Near K's family. Norfolk's Anmer hall a second home for kids to spend short breaks with Dad. Living separately without formal separation. #PrinceWilliam'sAffair," a fourth person added.
A cached version of the report claimed that a palace staff overheard Prince William and Kate Middleton's alleged "heated discussion." The report was from a French-language website, Oh My Mag, and was picked up by MSN.
However, a spokesperson for Groupe Cerise, who owns Oh My Mag, told Newsweek that the story was not true and even took down the report.
"This story is indeed false and has been published by accident. We are taking it down momentarily," the spokesperson said.
MSN also deleted its report and the tweet related to it.
Apparently, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very much together. They made several appearances with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, during Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee earlier this month.

Prince William and Kae Middleton's little girl "loves acrobats and is very into the arts and acting," an unnamed source told Us Weekly. That's not all, she's also ready to show the world what she got any time of the day.

Aside from being a talented performer, Princess Charlotte excels in her academics.

Prince William gave fans a peek at their family's morning routine at home in Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England. The Duke of Cambridge said they usually have very lively morning because the kids — Prince George and Princess Charlotte do not agree on what music to play most mornings.
Princess Charlotte and Prince George will start the day arguing just like other siblings — but for the royal kids, it's simply about what music to play. Their younger sibling Prince Louis also joins them running around the kitchen.
"Most mornings there's a massive fight between Charlotte and George as to what song is played in the morning," Prince William said as quoted by People as saying. "And I have to, now, basically prioritize that one day someone does this one, and another day it's someone else's turn. So George gets his go, then Charlotte gets her go. Such is the clamor for the music."
Prince William and Kate Middleton's kids love Shakira's "Waka Waka" and enjoy dancing to it. "There's a lot of hip movements going along. There's a lot of dressing up," the second in line to the throne added.
Princess Charlotte, who takes private ballet lessons, would run around the kitchen in her dress and ballet gear taking it as her opportunity to show off her dancing skills.
"She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing," Prince William continued. "It's a really happy moment where the children just enjoy dancing, messing around, and, and singing.
