EYESHADOW can seem daunting to make-up novices, but eyeshadow sticks make it foolproof.
You paint them straight onto skin and can blend out with fingers, so no extra tools are necessary. I put three to the test.
Rimmel Wonder’last Shadow Stick, £8.99, Boots: There’s a great selection of shades in this range, but they’re not all created equal.
The lighter ones have very little pigment, but the darker hues are brilliant.
They all glide on nice and easily, and don’t tug at the delicate skin around the eyes.
Plus, the glitter finish is very forgiving so it doesn’t matter if you don’t quite blend it properly.
Perfect for the Christmas party season.
Morphe Mixed Signals Dual-Ended Cream & Liquid Shadow Stick, £16, uk.morphe.com: Not only is this an eyeshadow stick, it also comes with a chunky glitter liquid shadow topper on the other end.
So you get two products for the price (and space) of one.
The stick itself is decently pigmented, although slightly drier than the Vieve, so takes a bit more work to blend out and can feel heavy if you apply too much.
The liquid is a little messy to apply, but once it sets, it doesn’t move, so you don’t need to worry about fallout or getting glitter everywhere – which is the main draw for me.
Vieve Eye Wand, £25 for 1.4g, cultbeauty.co.uk: I have used these sticks pretty much every day since their launch five years ago.
So they are definitely my favourite of the bunch.
There’s no glitter in sight, which is what I prefer for daily wear.
They are creamy enough for you to blend out almost completely, or build them up for more saturated colour.
And once they’ve dried, they don’t budge, so you won’t end up with tiger-like stripes on your lid where the product has collected throughout the day.
I can’t rave about them enough.
