Jasprit Bumrah makes HISTORY, equals Kapil Dev’s THIS massive record

The standout performer for India has been Jasprit Bumrah, who played a pivotal role in dismissing Australia for just 104, helping India gain a 46-run lead despite being bowled out for only 150. This performance has allowed Bumrah to equal a significant record.

Jasprit Bumrah finished the first innings with remarkable figures of 5/30, marking his 11th five-wicket haul in Tests. This also marked his 7th five-wicket performance in SENA nations (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia), equaling the legendary Kapil Dev for the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian in these countries. Kapil Dev achieved this in 62 innings, while Bumrah has reached the milestone in just 51 innings, 11 fewer than the cricketing legend.

Jasprit Bumrah, with his stunning five-wicket haul, has now taken 50 wickets in the 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. He becomes the first Indian pacer to reach this milestone in a single WTC cycle and the third Indian bowler overall, after Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, to achieve this remarkable feat.

Jasprit Bumrah also became the Indian bowler with the most international wickets in 2024 across all three formats, with 61 scalps. He surpassed Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga to achieve this milestone.
