It has been well documented that Roy Keane used to support Spurs, and the Man Utd legend has now done something that Tottenham supporters will love.
Keane has been open about the fact that he grew up supporting Tottenham as a boy. Even though the Irishman has become synonymous with Man Utd, having captained the Red Devils to a number of titles, he has never hidden the fact that Spurs were his first love.
He once revealed on Sky Sports (via The Sun): “Growing up in Ireland, you were either a Man Utd or Liverpool fan… or Celtic. Strangely enough, I supported Spurs. Not sure why, but I did.”
Keane also talks about his affection for Tottenham in his autobiography, ‘Red Mist’, where he confesses that he idolised Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle growing up.
Even during his appearances in The Overlap, the 53-year-old has not hidden his feelings about the North London side, stating last year on the program: “I am a Spurs fan. Spurs is my team. I played for Man United but Spurs are my team”.
Keane has now done something that shows that all these years later, he still has a soft spot for Tottenham.
The Sky pundit decided to wear a Christmas jumper on The Overlap with Luke Humphries, with the picture being well received by Spurs fans on social media.
Tottenham fans would have noticed that Keane is especially hard on the club among all the Sky pundits.
The Irishman probably uses the term ‘Spursy’ to describe bad performances from the side more than any other popular face in the media.
It is now clear why that is the case as just like us, the Lilywhites put Keane through a lot of misery while growing up, and it seems he has never forgiven them for that.
