OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — May Avenue is a hot spot for fast food restaurants and local businesses, but workers say one Wendy's in particular is a danger zone.
"They destroyed thousands of dollars of property, they threw our monitors," said Dalton Kennedy.
Kennedy is one of the store managers at Wendy's on NW 36th and May who spoke with News 4.
Oklahoma City Police say Derrick Jackson, Jerome Mayfield and Misty Vannoy assaulted workers and destroyed property inside of the Wendy's two weeks ago. They have since been arrested.
"I got hit in the face," said Kennedy
He also said another person had a cookie display case thrown at them.
According to police records, the suspects were fighting with people in another car that pulled up next to them.
"I went over there and just kind of tried to de-escalate and said, you know, let's not have any trouble," Kennedy said. "We gave him his food."
Five minutes later, Kennedy said things took a violent turn, as one of the men came inside demanding a refund. He claimed they were missing part of their order.
"I just heard screaming from the front counter. I told him how he could get his refund if that's what he wanted to do through the proper channels," Kennedy said.
Kennedy said they destroyed everything, including monitors and printers.
Court records detail all three suspects having a criminal background.
Misty Herrin was previously convicted and serving a 15-year suspended sentence for first degree manslaughter.
Both Derrick Jackson and Jerome Mayfield also have felony charges on their record.
Kennedy said being in an unsafe environment while working to make money is stressful.
"I'm only 21 years old myself, and now I'm dealing with 15 and 16-year-olds who are afraid to come in to work tomorrow because of what they had to go through," Kennedy said.
News 4 reached out to the Wendy's corporate office about the incident, who sent the following statement.
