Jonathan Majors has been plowing ahead with image-rehabilitation efforts since he was convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence last year. Earlier this week, the actor debuted his engagement to actress Meagan Good at the Ebony Power 100 Gala. Then on Thursday, it was reported that his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari has dismissed a federal lawsuit against the actor accusing him of assault and defamation.
In December 2023, Majors was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment against Jabbari, a movement coach. He was sentenced this past April to a yearlong domestic-violence counseling program and did not receive jail time. A month before the sentencing, Jabbari filed a lawsuit against Majors that alleged assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious persecution, and defamation. Majors had continued to maintain his innocence even after his conviction, including claiming that he’d “never laid hands on a woman” during a Good Morning America appearance. (Two more of Majors’s ex-girlfriends separately accused the actor of physical and emotional abuse in February; he denied their allegations and no charges have been filed.)
According to Variety, attorneys for Jabbari and Majors filed a joint notice with the court stating that all claims against Majors “are hereby dismissed with prejudice.” In a statement to the outlet, an attorney for Jabbari said the suit has been “favorably settled.” The attorney also expressed hopes that Jabbari “can finally put this chapter behind her and move forward with her head held high.” Now that both the criminal and civil cases against Majors have been resolved, it’s only a matter of time before he mounts his Hollywood comeback, too (just not in the Marvelverse).
