DEAR DEIDRE: ALTHOUGH I’m only 19, I’m at the point of giving up on ever finding love.
Most of my friends are in relationships, but all the guys I meet only want one thing.
I had a boyfriend for two years when I was 15. But since he dumped me, leaving me heartbroken, there has been nobody else.
I’m a sociable girl, with lots of interests. I’m a student and also have a part-time bar job, so I meet lots of guys.
But all they want is sex. They’re really immature and not boyfriend material.
Dating apps are just as bad – if not worse.
I’m starting to wonder if there’s something wrong with me.
DEIDRE SAYS: There’s nothing wrong with you. You’ve just been unlucky.
It’s true that many guys your age probably aren’t ready for anything serious.
But the best way to meet someone who is, is to become friends first.
My support pack, Widening Your Social Scene, will give you tips.
It’s possible you’re still bruised from your breakup holding back. If you think that’s possible, do think about sharing your feelings.
The Mix (themix.org.uk) provides support to under-25s.
