Stock Market Highlights: Sensex surged 1961.32 points, or 2.54% to close at 79,117.11, while Nifty gained 524.50 points, or 2.25%, to settle at 23,874.40. Top gainers on the NSE were SBI (4.33%), Bajaj Finance (3.93%), Titan (3.89%), ITC (3.69%) and TCS (3.66%). All the 30 Sensex firms ended in the green. The market recovery comes after the Adani Group witnessed its sharpest decline since the Hindenburg controversy, losing ₹2.2 lakh crore in market capitalization on Thursday. “The market has corrected only by about 11 per cent from the September peak. This is a correction, not a crash,” said Dr. V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services. Global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.19 per cent to USD 74.37 a barrel.
