The racing driver is also a sports commentator and disability activist, who had both his legs amputated after an accident.
In April 2017, Billy was critically injured in a collision at Donington Park that caused both of his legs to be amputated.
Billy also previously competed on the first celebrity special of Race Across The World alongside his sister Bonny.
Speaking about joining the cast of Strictly for their Christmas special this year, Billy has confessed that the thought of donning sequins in front of the judging panel fills him with fear.
“I’ve spent the last 12 months training 20 hours a week for an Ironman world record attempt.
“But the thought of donning sequins in front of Craig Revel Horwood fills me with a fear I’ve never experienced before,” he said.
He went on to say, “This is about as far from my comfort zone as it can get!
“My family are big Strictly fans, so I’m doing it for them and to raise awareness for what I’m doing for Comic Relief next year.
“I’m just hoping my leg doesn’t fall off mid-dance!”
Billy will be performing with a fan-favourite professional dancer this Christmas, and it’s safe to say that viewers will likely be overjoyed.
The Formula 3 driver will be dancing with Nadiya Bychkova in the Christmas special.
Reacting to the news that Billy will star in this year’s Christmas special, fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts.
“Billy will be so good,” penned one.
On Christmas Day, Strictly Come Dancing will return for a festive special with six celebrities... but who are they and who will they be paired with
The celebrities and their professional dance partners are…
Josh Widdicombe will be paired with Karen
Tayce with Kai
Vogue Williams with Carlos
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey with Nancy
Tamzin Outhwaite and Nikita
Billy Monger with Nadiya
“Love this. What a great guy,” added a second.
A third then pleaded, “Excellent choice. I hope Billy does the whole strictly series!!”
While a fourth said, “Loved Billy Monger on Race Across the World – can’t wait to see him with Nadiya at Christmas!”
This comes as the 2024 core series nears the end, which follows on from a fun-filled week at Blackpool.
But the fun had to end for one of the couples, with Welsh Opera singer Wynne and his professional dance partner Katya becoming the eighth pair to be voted off Strictly at the weekend.
During the Blackpool episode, Wynne and Katya were up against former X Factor winner Shayne Ward and his pro dancer Nancy Xu.
Fans reacted after the couple was booted off the show.
“Right decision but I’m sad to see Wynne and Katya go. Katya’s my fave pro and Wynne seems like a lovely man.
“I wish people wouldn’t say ‘thank god for that’ and ‘it’s about time’, Wynne’s deserved his place in the competition as much as everyone else. I’ll miss him,” penned one.
The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day.
