NFL spread picks, Week 12: Who trusts Tommy DeVito (besides the Giants)?

For what seems like the first time since Week 1, every expert on our panel is .500 or better. This is mostly due to an outrageously profitably Week 11, where the worst you could’ve done tailing us is 7-7 and the best was 11-3.

Naturally, that puts a ton of pressure on everyone to maintain success this week. With a number of division rivals facing off in Week 12 — starting with Steelers-Browns on Thursday — let’s see who holds up and who cracks.

Best of luck to those who tail (or fade).

Name Last Week YTD
Blake Schuster 9-5 94-68-3
Christian D’Andrea 9-5 91-70-3
Charles Curtis 9-5 85-77-3
Robert Zeglinski 11-3 83-79-3
Cory Woodroof 11-3 82-80-3
Prince Grimes 7-7 81-81-3

All odds via BetMGM

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns (Thursday Night)

Opening Line: Browns -2.5

Blake Schuster: Browns +3.5

This is a real quick turnaround for Pittsburgh, which goes from facing AFC North rival Baltimore at home to AFC North rival Cleveland on the road. I’ll take the points in what should be an ugly one.

Prince Grimes: Steelers -3.5

They could probably kick six field goals again and still cover with the way their defense is about to shut down Cleveland.

Charles Curtis: Steelers -3.5

Mike Tomlin’s not going to let this one get away.

Cory Woodroof: Steelers -3.5

This will be an ugly game that Pittsburgh wins on defense.

Robert Zeglinski: Steelers -3.5

The Steelers might win 12 games and an AFC North division title with half of what Russell Wilson used to be. I swear, the next Pittsburgh fan that complains about Mike Tomlin for any reason really doesn’t know how good they have it.

Christian D’Andrea: Browns +3.5

Cleveland has only lost once at home vs. the Steelers since 2017. No matter how bad this team is, it comes to play against Pittsburgh. Factor in a potential letdown after an emphatic win over Baltimore and this feels like a close one.

Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears

Opening Line: Bears -3.5

Blake Schuster: Vikings -3.5

And, no, they still won’t fire Matt Eberflus after this one, either.

Prince Grimes: Vikings -3.5

Playing this defense just two weeks removed from firing your OC doesn’t sound ideal.

Charles Curtis: Bears +3.5

Hmm. Improved Bears offense, Vikings have been shakey, divisional game. I’ll take the points.

Cory Woodroof: Vikings -3.5

Chicago feels like it’s heading toward major changes. Minnesota does not.

Robert Zeglinski: Vikings -3.5

Rookie quarterback plus novice playcaller in only his second game against genius defensive mind equals comfortable Minnesota win.

Christian D’Andrea: Vikings -3.5

My general preference is to avoid all Bears games whatsoever until we can figure out what the hell they are. But I have so, so little confidence in Matt Eberflus’s ability to keep his momentum rolling.

Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts

Opening Line: Lions -2.5

Blake Schuster: Colts +7.5

The Lions have been steamrolling teams for a few weeks now, but that comes to an end against a Colts team that’s an impressive 8-3 against the spread. I’ll ride with the home dog.

Prince Grimes: Lions -7.5

The Lions might be the best team in the NFL.

Charles Curtis: Lions -7.5

Easy money.

Cory Woodroof: Lions -7.5

The Detroit train slows for no team.

Robert Zeglinski: Lions -7.5

Detroit destroyed afterthoughts like the Cowboys, Titans, and Jaguars by average 40-point margin. And Dan Campbell still had the audacity to challenge his team to score sooner. Why should I believe the Colts will be any different?

Christian D’Andrea: Lions -7.5

Hate laying this many points on the road, but I’m not yet sold on an Anthony Richardson revival.

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins

Opening Line: Dolphins -7

Blake Schuster: Dolphins -7

Miami is starting to figure things out again and the Dolphins haven’t played with their food since Tua returned.

Prince Grimes: Dolphins -7

The Dolphins are 3-0 ATS in their last three games. Things are trending up in Miami.

Charles Curtis: Patriots +7

The defense is just good enough to keep this one close.

Cory Woodroof: Patriots +7

A risky pick, to be sure, but I could see an upset here.

Robert Zeglinski: Patriots +7

Drake Maye does not look like a typical rookie quarterback and the Dolphins are just average enough to let them hang around. That’s right, folks. We let New England get away with it. Again.

Christian D’Andrea: Patriots +7

New England has been competent the last four weeks. The defense is playing average football. This is incredibly faint praise, yet should be enough to compete with the Dolphins.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants

Opening Line: Buccaneers -1

Blake Schuster: Buccaneers -6

Prediction: Daniel Jones takes over after halftime.

Prince Grimes: Giants +6

If Tommy DeVito is even just a little better than Daniel Jones, the Giants can make the Bucs sweat a little.

Charles Curtis: Buccaneers -6

Tommy Cutlets is going to get fried.

Cory Woodroof: Giants +6

The Giants are not good, but that defensive line might make this closer than expected.

Robert Zeglinski: Buccaneers -6

The only interesting part of this game is whether the broadcast talks more about the MVP-caliber quarterback or the guy whose mom still makes his bed for him at the age of 26. You know who is who.

Christian D’Andrea: Giants +6

Who am I to doubt Tommy DeVito?

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Commanders

Opening Line: Cowboys -3.5

Blake Schuster: Cowboys +10.5

That’s a lot of points in a division game and Washington is already in a bit of a slump.

Prince Grimes: Cowboys +10.5

Dallas’ loss to Houston wasn’t as bad as the final score suggests. They won’t beat the Commanders, but Cooper Rush can make it interesting.

Charles Curtis: Commanders -10.5

I cannot bet on Cooper Rush despite what we saw last week.

Cory Woodroof: Commanders -10.5

Woof, Cowboys.

Robert Zeglinski: Commanders -10.5

Cooper Rush had approximately a gajillion turnover-worthy plays last Monday night and the Commanders are in desperate need of a get-right game.

Christian D’Andrea: Commanders -10.5

I worry slightly that Dallas will be able to take Terry McLaurin out of the game plan, but Washington needs a get-right game and this is a tremendous opportunity.

Kansas City Chiefs at Carolina Panthers

Opening Line: Chiefs -7.5

Blake Schuster: Chiefs -11

When we talk about the NFL being rigged, we should look no further than the Bills getting a bye and the Chiefs getting the Panthers the week after Kansas City and Buffalo play each other. Whew.

Prince Grimes: Chiefs -11

If there was one team that could get many to lay this many points with the Chiefs, it’s the Panthers.

Charles Curtis: Chiefs -11

A rebound game that will right the ship after one loss.

Cory Woodroof: Chiefs -11

The Panthers can’t win this.

Robert Zeglinski: Chiefs -11

So much for the first win streak of Bryce Young’s career. It truly was nice while it lasted.

Christian D’Andrea: Panthers +11

Bryce Young beat C.J. Stroud last season coming off a bye. That’s apples and bowling balls compared to Kansas City, but between the rest and home field advantage Carolina should at least linger in the conversation Sunday.

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans

Opening Line: Texans -6

Blake Schuster: Texans -8.5

Let’s see what Nico Collins and CJ Stroud can do after a little extra time working together this week.

Prince Grimes: Texans -8.5

Monday night’s win wasn’t Houston’s best, but it was a step in the right direction. They’ll take another step in this one.

Charles Curtis: Titans +8.5

Don’t love what I see out of the Texans as of late, so I’ll take the points.

Cory Woodroof: Titans +8.5

The Texans may win, but Tennessee will keep it close.

Robert Zeglinski: Texans +8.5

Bobby Slowik not getting a head-coaching job last year is starting to look like an all-time stroke of foolishness. With the way C.J. Stroud and the Texans offense has struggled, the sheen is firmly off the once-hot offensive coordinator.

Christian D’Andrea: Texans -8.5

Houston is stuck in neutral but can still handle bad teams, even on the road. See Week 11 for proof.

Denver Broncos at Las Vegas Raiders

Opening Line: Raiders -3

Blake Schuster: Broncos -5.5

Denver is incredibly annoying this season and I mean that as a compliment.

Prince Grimes: Broncos -5.5

Hey, y’all, Bo Nix is an NFL quarterback.

Charles Curtis: Broncos -5.5

That Bo Nix guy looks good!

Cory Woodroof: Broncos -5.5

The Broncos are legit.

Robert Zeglinski: Broncos -5.5

I Bo-lieve in Bo Nix. I can’t believe I typed that sentence in late November.

Christian D’Andrea: Broncos -5.5

Even if Bo Nix takes a step back (against the league’s 26th-ranked passing defense), Denver has the chops to make Gardner Minshew look stupid.

San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers

Opening Line: 49ers -2.5

Blake Schuster: 49ers +2.5

I just don’t see the Niners getting blown out, so I’ll take the points and hope it stays within a field goal.

Prince Grimes: 49ers +2.5

This is going to come down to the wire. I’ll take the points.

Charles Curtis: 49ers +2.5

Feels like a trap, but don’t care. This will be a close one.

Cory Woodroof: 49ers +2.5

This feels prime for an upset.

Robert Zeglinski: 49ers +2.5

Even in a down year for Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers, they still absolutely own the Packers. Don’t get it twisted. San Fran devil magic wins out in the end.

Christian D’Andrea: Packers -2.5

I don’t trust either team. Green Bay is laying less than a field goal at home, so that’s the play.

Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks

Opening Line: Seahawks -1

Blake Schuster: Cardinals -1

Arizona is 7-3 against the spread and the Seahawks are 3-6-1. I’m not going to overthink this. The better team will win by more than a point.

Prince Grimes: Cardinals -1

One of these teams runs the ball well, and it’s surprisingly the Cards.

Charles Curtis: Cardinals -1

A tough one to call but I like the team off the bye.

Cory Woodroof: Cardinals -1

Arizona might win a playoff game at this rate.

Robert Zeglinski: Seahawks +1

The Cardinals do not have the defensive horses to go into raucous Seattle and stay in the Circle of Trust, I’m sorry.

Christian D’Andrea: Seahawks +1

I’m not sure anyone in the NFC West is actually good or bad this year.

Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams (Sunday Night)

Opening Line: Rams -1

Blake Schuster: Rams +3

The Rams’ offense looks good! I’ll happily take the points at home.

Prince Grimes: Eagles -3

The Rams tend to play up to their competition, so there’s a chance they pull off the upset. But the Eagles should win.

Charles Curtis: Eagles -3

I paused a little but the Eagles are good enough to cover.

Cory Woodroof: Eagles -3

The Rams are solid, but Philly is better.

Robert Zeglinski: Eagles -3

All hail Vic Fangio. Every defense he touches turns to gold, er, well it’s green this time around. What an all-time football guy.

Christian D’Andrea: Eagles -3

No defense in the NFL has been better than Philly’s since its bye week.

Baltimore Ravens at Los Angeles Chargers (Monday Night)

Opening Line: Ravens -3

Blake Schuster: Chargers +3

Not betting against Jim Harbaugh continues to work out.

Prince Grimes: Chargers +3

The Chargers might just win this game outright.

Charles Curtis: Chargers +3

Jim Harbaugh will out-coach his brother and get this game close.

Cory Woodroof: Chargers +3

That L.A. defense is no joke.

Robert Zeglinski: Ravens -3

The older Harbaugh brother has the better offensive backfield. The younger Harbaugh brother has the better all-around team. (Clears throat) SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE.

Christian D’Andrea: Ravens -3

Baltimore needs a bounce-back win. The Chargers have one victory over a team with a +.500 record this season and it was the Broncos.
