Restoration efforts underway after pipe burst at St. Peter's Hospital

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Restoration efforts are underway at St. Peter's Hospital after a pipe burst in the medical imaging department around 2:15 a.m. on Monday. Cleanup work is expected to continue through the end of the week.

The damage affected medical imaging equipment at St. Peter's, which resulted in a temporary diversion of ambulances to other hospitals in the area. However, the emergency department never closed, remains fully operational, and continues to accept walk-in patients, a St. Peter’s Health Partners representative told NEWS10.

"We are coordinating with our regional healthcare partners to ensure uninterrupted care for all patients, including facilitating transfers, when necessary," said St. Peter’s Health Partners' spokesperson. "We deeply appreciate the cooperation and assistance of our regional counterparts and the dedication of our staff in addressing this situation."

The water damage was contained solely to the medical imaging department. Patients at the hospital are continuing to receive care, though some imaging services have been shifted to the outpatient imaging suite at the St. Peter's campus located at 319 South Manning Boulevard.
