Forestry expert Kenneth Laruan named new Benguet State University president

BENGUET, Philippines – Seasoned academic and forestry expert Kenneth Alip Laruan has been named the new president of Benguet State University (BSU). He succeeds Dr. Felipe Comila, who is set to retire this month.

Dr. Laruan brings a wealth of experience and a strong academic background to the role. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in forestry from the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 2011, solidifying his expertise in the discipline.

As a professor at BSU, Laruan consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching and leadership. He notably served as director of the Cordillera Regional Apiculture Center, where he led initiatives in sustainable apiculture practices and research.

Laruan said he aims to transform the institution into a premier university in research, technology, and environmental conservation in Northern Luzon by 2028.
