LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A pair of Acadiana schools looked to capture state volleyball championships on Saturday at the Cajundome.
No. 1 St. Thomas More looked to continue a dominant state playoff run in Division II. Entering Saturday, the Cougars had yet to surrender a single set throughout the 2024 playoffs. In their fifth consecutive appearance in state final, STM would knock off No. 3 Ben Franklin in straight sets.
Head Coach Jessica Burke and the Cougars won their fourth straight state championship and completed a perfect 2024 playoff run.
In Division V, No. 2 Lafayette Westminster Christian went toe-to-toe with No. 1 Metairie Park Country Day. The Chargers would battle hard to force a fifth set against the Cajuns but would fall in the end. The victory gives Country Day their tenth straight state championship.
