DAVINA McCall’s partner shared a statement to Instagram today, breaking his silence after her brain tumour surgery.
Presenter Davina, 57, is recovering in hospital and feeling “utterly exhausted” following emergency surgery today.
The TV host revealed earlier on that a benign growth was discovered during a routine health check, with her boyfriend confirming the procedure was successful.
In an update shared on Instagram, Michael wrote: “Hey all. Davina is out of surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook!
“She’s currently recovering in ICU as a precaution. As you can imagine, she’s utterly exhausted.
“Thanks so much for all the love from everyone on here. It’s powerful stuff. We are super grateful. Michael xx.”
Davina previously told fans about her concerns ahead of the surgery on Instagram but managed to laugh with Michael as she explained the procedure.
The Masked Singer judge and former Big Brother presenter said the tumour was picked up during the check up she was given in return for giving a menopause talk for a private health firm.
Mum-of-three, Davina, said leaving the 14mm tumour could be “bad” if it was to grow.
The Long Lost Family presenter then said that she would be “handing over the reigns” to Michael in her absence.
She told fans this morning: “A few months ago, I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was gonna ace.
“But it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst which is very rare.
“Three in a million. So I slightly put my head in the sand.”
She added: “I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions and I realised that I have to get it taken out.
“It’s big for the space. It fills the space. It’s 14mm wide and it needs to come out, because if it grows, it would be bad. So I’m having it removed via a craniotomy.
“They go through the top of my head here and through the two halves of my brain to the middle, and get the cyst, take it out, empty it, take it out and Bob’s your uncle.”
Davina said she was in “good spirits” but asked fans for their support, adding: “So say a prayer for me.”
Alongside the video, hairdresser Michael had written on his partner’s account: “Hey everyone. Michael here. Davina will be “off grid” for a bit while she recovers from this brain operation.
“She is in great shape and in very good hands. I’ll I do the odd update from her account here for anyone interested.
“I’m sure she’ll read all the comments when she’s able to so feel free to send love. The support of people is amazingly powerful.
“Have a great day everyone. Michael xxx.”
Davina has been loved up with Michael since 2019.
The presenter’s first marriage was to shop manager, Andrew Leggett, in 1997.
The couple got hitched after a whirlwind romance but the relationship lasted just three months.
A benign brain tumour is a mass of cells that grows relatively slowly in the brain.
Benign means it in not cancerous.
Non-cancerous brain tumours tend to stay in one place and do not spread.
Some slow-growing tumours may not cause any symptoms at first.
When symptoms occur, it’s because the tumour is putting pressure on the brain and preventing a specific area of the brain from working properly.
As the tumour grows and increases pressure in the skull, you might experience:
See a GP if you develop any of these symptoms.
They’ll examine you and ask about your symptoms.
If they suspect you may have a tumour or are not sure what’s causing your symptoms, they may refer you to a brain and nerve specialist for further investigation.
