MANILA, Philippines – The UAAP partnered with healthcare app mWell to launch special edition fitness watches for each participating school, allowing students and athletes to wear their school spirit as Season 87 rolls on.
The watches are designed with the UAAP school colors and team logos, while being equipped with numerous fitness tracking system connected on the mWell mobile app.
The UAAP, through executive director Rebo Saguisag, signed the partnership with mWell CEO Chaye Cabal-Revilla at the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPiC) boardroom on Friday, November 15.
The watch tracks the number of steps, calories burned, hours of sleep, and heart rate among others. All metrics can be synced to the app.
It also measures light physical activities, sedentary time, and user’s fitness goals.
“What gets measured, gets managed,” said Saguisag, who was joined by the UAAP board members and several athletes.
“These kinds of initiatives are essential in making informed decisions about our health, especially of our student-athletes,” he added.
The watches will retail at P2,499 for the Power Smart variant and P3,499 for the Prestige Sport.
According to mWell, it will be available in UAAP game venues, and will be featured in the upcoming Cheerdance Competition on December 1.
