NFL player Nick Bosa owes the NFL a sizeable amount of money for his decision to wear a “MAGA” hat during an on-camera appearance after a football game.
After an October 27 game against the Dallas Cowboys, the 27-year-old defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers interrupted an interview taking place on the field.
He didn’t say anything. However, he pointed at his hat, which featured Donald Trump‘s “Make America Great Again” slogan. After pointing it out, he promptly left the interview.
On Saturday (November 9), it was revealed that the NFL is taking action against him for making a political statement.

According to reporting by ESPN, Nick will be fined $11,255.
Why?
In the NFL there are rules about what a player can wear on game day. They aren’t allowed to wear things that make a political statement “at any point throughout a game day when visible at the stadium and TV audience, including postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field.”
Nick referenced his decision to crash the interview earlier in the week, making it clear that he had no regrets and was not concerned about being fined.
“I haven’t got one yet, but if it comes, it comes,” he told the press. “It was well worth it.”
$11,000 is a sizeable fine. However, Nick is one of the top-paid NFL players of the year.
