LUKE LITTLER declared he was “here to win” as he set an astonishing average score of higher than 112.
The teen sensation got himself off to the perfect start in the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.

His remarkable average of 112.16 was the tenth highest average tournament score ever.
Littler had hit seven 100-plus scores in the match, with his highest checkout coming at 121.
He also had a striking doubles success rate of 56 per cent.

Speaking after the win, Littler said: “[Why better?] I’ve been practicing! I just wanted to come here and just focus and make a statement, I’m here to win.
“[What do you think of the format?] Just been watching the football, it’s just like the Champions League?
“I’ve been practicing well, I’m really enjoying it.
“I don’t like walking on with someone else. When I came on stage all the fans were singing my song, but I want a walk on.
“I want to top the group, everyone wants to. I just want to get out the group stage and hopefully go on and on.”
Littler’s win came immediately after Michael van Gerwen had his own 5-0 whitewash win over Noa-Lynn van Leuven – whom the world number three said had received “heartbreaking” treatment going into the tournament.
