No matter how much our kids change over the years, the love we have for them remains steadfast. And Serena Williams’ 6-year-old daughter Olympia has changed a lot over her 6 years! Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian just shared heartwarming side-by-side pictures of him and his baby girl from birth to now that will melt your heart.
“Then ➡️ Now,” he captioned the photos on Instagram this week. The first photo is a close-up of Olympia’s face from when she was only a few months old. She stares at the camera with her beautiful big eyes as Ohanian kisses the top of her head in the black-and-white snap. Then, slide 2 shows Olympia and her dad now. In this one, Olympia has long braids tied up in a ponytail. She’s sitting on a bench looking at a tablet, as her dad leans over toward her and smiles at something on the screen. Yep, the love has remained the same — but we are getting misty-eyed over how much Olympia has grown!
“I’ll keep Fighting for you & your sis. And I’ll do better. ???? @russroe,” Ohanian, who is also dad to 1-year-old Adira, added in the caption. It was posted shortly after Election Day, when former President Donald Trump defeat Vice President Kamala Harris in the race to the White House.
“My wish in the world is for all girls to experience this kind of unconditional support and love from their fathers ❤️ You are changing the world, Alexis. The world is a much better place with fathers like you ????” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “You are doing well. But the misogyny in our culture is hard to swallow. We will protect our daughters no matter what.”
Earlier this week, the Reddit co-founder shared a video message to fans encouraging them to vote. In the caption, he shared how he explained the democratic process to his eldest daughter.
“#vote ???????????????????????? Olympia’s big question last night was about voting,” he wrote. “and I explained what a miraculous (YOUNG) experiment our republic is in the timeline of humanity (and we didn’t get it perfect from the start but we are always working to improve it – like fighting to make sure girls — especially Black girls like her — could vote) and how RARE a society with prolonged free and fair elections AND peaceful transitions of power is. Do not take these for granted.”
Even though the results of the election were not what he hoped for, it appears that Ohanian is simply spending time in reflection, gratitude, and hope. What a beautiful example he’s setting for his daughters!
