Jett Williams and Drew Gilbert lost significant time in 2024 due to injury and hope to make up for some of that in the Arizona Fall League with the Scottsdale Scorpions. On Wednesday night, in the Scorpions’ 6-1 win, both of the Mets’ upper-echelon prospects showed why they’re so highly thought of and will be important players to watch in big league spring training.
While Williams played almost exclusively infield during the regular season –24 at shortstop and five at second base compared to only one in center field– he has played 10 games at shortstop and nine games in center field during the AFL season.
Gilbert had a big game with two hits, two runs scored, two RBIs, a walk and his second double of the AFL season. The 24-year-old has more walks (13) than strikeouts (11) in 18 games for Scottsdale.
