In this week’s “Survivor 47” deleted scene, viewers see an unaired moment from Episode 8 in which Sam Phalen expresses his disappointment at losing his vote at the auction. “Now that I’ve lost my vote,” the 24-year-old sports reporter from Nashville begins, “winning immunity today feels more essential to me than ever before.” Watch the video above.
“Tribal council sucks when you don’t have a vote,” Sam tells the audience in a private confessional. “It sucks even more when you don’t have a vote and you’re exposed. So I’m going into [the challenge] knowing I’m gonna have to absolutely empty the tank to make sure I get a necklace around my neck and I can have a little bit of security at tribal council tonight.”
The minute-long clip begins on Day 15 at the merged camp when Andy Rueda reads the Treemail to his fellow castaways that teases the upcoming immunity challenge. In its usual singsong manner, the parchment declares, “Forewarned is forearmed; Just suffer longer than the rest; Get a handle on your game today; Or get the boot at the snuff’s behest.”

At one point, Solomon “Sol” Yi observes that this particular Treemail looks bigger than the prior ones, to which Christine “Teeny” Chirichillo hilariously corrects him. “They’re all the same size,” she smiles.
The competitors correctly pick up on the fact that the “forearm” clue means they are about to take part in the challenge where they have to hold up buckets of water that are individually weighted to their pre-game body percentages. “Good thing I gained some weight back,” jokes Sierra Wright.
As viewers know, the co-winners of this immunity challenge were Kyle Ostwald for the men and Sue Smey for the women. Later at tribal council, Sam and Sierra each received four votes apiece in a tie. After the re-vote, a shocked Sierra was ousted from the game.
Next week, the 10 remaining castaways continue battling it out for the title of Sole Survivor. Season 47, Episode 9 is titled “Nightmare Fuel” and will air on Nov. 13, 2024 on CBS.
