Earlier today it was announced that promising prospect
Aoi Yokoyama (1-0, 1) [横山葵海] had become the first fighter to receive a 3150 x LUSHBOMU contract, which works somewhat different to most contracts in boxing, and could end up becoming a new trend for professional fighters in Japan.
The announcement, made at a press conference held at the Watanabe Gym in Tokyo, and featured Hitoshi Watanabe, Yokoyama and Koki Kameda, and extended a long relationship between 3150 and Watanabe Gym.
The key part of the announcement was what Yokoyama will be receiving as as 3150 x LUSHBOMU contracted athlete. To begin with the main highlight was a regular, monthly, salary, essentially allowing him to focus on his boxing career, rather than making him either work on the side, as many boxers in Japan do, or chase sponsorships. It was revealed that the salary for not just Yokoyama but other athletes given the contracts will be pretty solid money, "Depending on the player's ranking, a total of 300,000 to 500,000 yen will be paid to the player and his/her gym as a monthly salary (applicable to players ranked 10th or higher in Japan)." That’s around $2000 to $3250 a month, as a salary.
In addition to the monthly salary the athletes are guaranteed at least two matches per year in events sponsored by "3150 x LUSHBOMU." In addition to their monthly salary, they will also receive a large purse for each of those bouts
Thirdly they are also offered a “back up system” where 3150×LUSHBOMU will support the athletes with their PR activities, recruiting individual sponsors and inviting sparring partners..
The announcement of the contract also came alongside the announcement of "3150 x LUSHBOMU vol.3,", which Yokoyama will main event as he takes on OPBF ranked Filipino
Denmark Quibido (13-3-2, 7) at the Twin Messe Shizuoka in Shizuoka City on December 31st in an 8 rounder at Super Flyweight.
Although not a major name, yet, Yokoyama was a solid amateur, going 44-12 (12) and winning the 2022 All Japan Championships, at Bantamweight. He's 23 years old and debuted in July on the under-card of
Kazuto Ioka's bout with Fernando Daniel Martinez, where he stopped Hao Wang. He’s tipped for big things and is a great signing for 3150 x LUSHBOMU.
