San Rafael police arrested a suspect who allegedly threatened security staff with a machete he stole at a store.
The incident happened at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Home Depot store on Shoreline Parkway, police Sgt. Justin Graham said. A security employee suspected that the visitor was going to steal merchandise, including a gardening machete, Graham said.
The suspect allegedly threatened the employee with the machete and fled with stolen goods. No injuries were reported.
Officers arrested the suspect near the corner of Bellam Boulevard and Windward Way.
Nelson Calderon-Rodas, 24, of San Rafael was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of robbery and violating his probation terms. His bail amount was set at $50,000.
