A wave of racist text messages reportedly went out following Donald Trump's election win this week.
At least one University of Alabama student and a Virginia photojournalist were among many nationwide who received text messages Wednesday asking them to report to a plantation to pick cotton, reported The Crimson White and WVEC-TV.
"You have been selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation," the message read. "Be ready at 12 pm sharp with your belongings. Our executive slaves will come get you in a brown van. Be prepared to be searched down once you've enter the plantation. You are in plantation group W."

Recipients posted screenshots of the message, which showed different group assignments from various phone numbers, on social media, and WVEC photographer Sam Burwell said he and some other people he knows each received one.
"I have a cousin up in Richmond who received the same text message, but I found it weird that in my text message, it had a different group number than his, and they both had our names," Burwell said.
It's not clear who sent the messages, but law enforcement and university officials are investigating.
"I feel like it's a spam message [and] I do feel disappointed about the message they're sending a day after the election," said Burwell.
The Virginia Attorney General condemned the messages, according to reporting.
