AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin Police Department officers are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting in northwest Austin Thursday morning.
The police department posted about the shooting on X at 9:53 a.m., saying it happened in the 9500 block of North Farm to Market Road 620.
APD did not specify in the post if the officer who was involved in the shooting was with APD or another agency.
In an update, police said the call initially came in as an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No officers were injured, and one person -- who police called a suspect -- died, according to APD.
Police are asking people to avoid the area and expect street closures nearby.
