The newest Bruins forward will make his debut Tuesday.
Boston signed Tyler Johnson on Monday, and he won’t have to wait to hit the ice. The two-time Stanley Cup champion was with the B’s to start the season on a PTO, and head coach Jim Montgomery confirmed the 34-year-old would debut against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The bench boss offered his expectations for the veteran.
“Energy, poise, wisdom and game management,” Montgomery told reporters of what to expect from Johnson. “He’s gonna make plays. He’s gonna be able to help us on the bench, just another veteran, a voice who’s won a couple of Cups.”
Montgomery also confirmed Johnson will skate on a line with Matthew Poitras and Trent Frederic. Johnson enters his 13th season in the NHL and will look to help the Bruins win their third straight game. His debut came as the Maple Leafs announced Auston Matthews would not be available for Tuesday’s game.
