The Patriots didn’t do much on deadline day, but that wasn’t for a lack of effort around the NFL.
New England received calls on cornerback Christian Gonzalez, pass-rusher Keion White, defensive tackle Davon Godchaux and safety Kyle Dugger prior to the buzzer, according to Josina Anderson.
Gonzalez!? White!? Dugger!?
The Patriots should have hung up immediately when those names were mentioned, and, according to Anderson, showed little interest in moving any of them. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini also reported on Godchaux and Dugger, while adding that wide receivers K.J. Osborn and Kendrick Bourne drew some interest.
It’s easy to be disappointed in executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf’s performance, but there’s some solace in the fact he didn’t trade away any franchise cornerstones.
Osborn, however, should be on a flight to Los Angeles by now.
