NEW YORK (PIX11) – The 2024 TCS New York City Marathon is underway Sunday, with more than 50,000 runners taking over the Big Apple.
Over 2 million spectators are watching the race from the sidelines. Several celebrities are also participating in the marathon.
The TCS in the marathon's name stands for Tata Consultancy Services, an IT consulting firm based in India. The company signed an eight-year contract with New York Road Runners, the organizer of the marathon, back in 2021.
Tata Consultancy Services created an app that tracks runners during the marathon. It's also the title sponsor for the London Marathon, according to a news release.
Tata Consultancy Services will be the title sponsor of the New York City Marathon through 2029.
