The Israeli army claims that approximately 2,000 Hezbollah members have been killed since the start of its ground operations in southern Lebanon.
In a statement released today, November 3, the Israeli military reported that 2,000 Hezbollah fighters were killed as a result of ground operations in southern Lebanon, with around 1,000 more casualties reported in the outskirts of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
According to the military, these 2,000 Hezbollah fighters were killed during airstrikes that supported ground forces or in direct confrontations on the battlefield in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah has yet to confirm or deny these casualty figures, and the number of Israeli casualties from these ground operations remains unclear.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that at least 2,833 Lebanese have been killed in Israeli air and ground attacks since October of last year, with the number of displaced Lebanese exceeding 1.2 million.
Israel is currently engaged on multiple fronts, and its military announced that from October 7, 2023, to the present, 26,360 rockets have been launched towards the country.
The escalating conflict in Lebanon has resulted in significant loss of life and displacement. The ongoing military operations and the humanitarian crisis highlight the urgent need for a diplomatic resolution to prevent further escalation and to address the dire needs of affected civilians on both sides.
As the situation develops, it remains crucial for international actors to intervene and facilitate dialogue, aiming to bring about a ceasefire and lasting peace in the region, ensuring the protection of civilian lives and addressing the humanitarian challenges faced by the populations involved.
