After being dismissed in second inning of the 3rd Test against New Zealand, Rishabh Pant faced a controversial dismissal. Rohit Sharma also shared his views and spoke on the incident after the match, and called it to be an unfortunate dismissal.
Rohit said that there is no evidence for this dismissal. The decision by the on-field umpire can not be overturned by the third umpire, and that it felt like Pant might have helped team secure the victory.
“What I know if there is no conclusive evidence, third umpire can’t overturn it. It was an unfortunate dismissal. What we want is consistency from umpires. At one point, it felt like Rishabh will see us through,” said Rohit Sharma in the post-match press conference.
The 25-run defeat to New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium put India’s hopes of reaching the World Test Championship (WTC) final in serious jeopardy as now not only have they lost the top spot on the table but also because they can’t afford to lose even 1 out of the 5 matches in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.
