Tottenham fans will love what Dejan Kulusevski has just said about the side’s ambitions after they sealed progression to the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup.
Invaluable win for Tottenham
The 2-1 win over Manchester City was a huge result for Spurs on the back of their poor showing at Selhurst Park last Sunday.
Not only does it help build back momentum and take some of the pressure off Ange Postecoglou, but it also keeps them alive in a competition, which undoubtedly represents their best chance of winning silverware this season.
The Lilywhites will now believe that they can go all the way in the Carabao Cup as they are just one tie against Manchester United away from a semifinal.
Dejan Kulusevski’s trophy admission
Kuluseveski has now insisted that he and his teammates want to win every possible trophy they can this season but acknowledged that they have to become more consistent in order to have a shot at becoming a great side.
The Swede said following Tottenham’s win over Man City (via The Mirror): “We don’t want to be up and down. If you want to be a champion you have to be there every game – that’s the main part that everyone has to understand.
“We have to improve away from home against teams that play physically and don’t play the football that was played against City. We want to win every trophy and this is a great opportunity to win a cup. It will be fun to play against a legendary team next in United.”
Music to Ange Postecoglou’s ears
Ange Postecoglou will love hearing Kulusevski say this as this is the sort of mentality that the Australian is trying to instill at the club. I would not be surprised to see the Sweden international upgraded to a vice-captain sometime soon.
Spurs still have a long way to go before they can dream of a Wembley final, with some strong teams still left in the Carabao Cup. Man Utd could well get a new manager bounce and may not be as easy an opponent as they were just a few weeks ago.
