Dejan Kulusevski confesses that he is always particularly motivated to do well against Manchester City, insisting that he knew he was going to shine against the Premier League champions on Wednesday.

There is no doubt that Man City are Kulusevski’s favourite opponents, with the Swede always tending to have a blinder against Pep Guardiola’s men.
In fact, the Spurs man has registered seven goal contributions (three goals and four assists) against the Manchester club, which according to The Mirror, is the most by any single opposition player in Guardiola’s tenure.
The 24-year-old was once again the start of the show for the Lilywhites against the Citizens in the recent Carabao Cup clash, with the away side struggling to cope with his running power and his enterprising play.
Dejan Kulusevski makes Man City admission
Kulusevski has now confessed that he was especially keen to do well against City, admitting that it is ‘personal’ for him when he comes up against the champions.
The Tottenham man said (via The Mirror) “I knew I had to do something important as it’s an amazing game to play against this team. I take it personally to play against City, I promised myself that I was going to have a good game and I think I did.”
When asked if it was down to the frustration of struggling to get into the game against Crystal Palace, the attacker responded: “It wasn’t about Palace, no, it’s just because it’s City. I love to play against the best because it’s extra-motivating.
“It’s a personal thing, everybody that is close to me knows it and I knew that I was going to shine because I prepared for this game for a long time. I knew I had to perform and I did. I’ve played City away three times and scored three times. There is no fear. In fact, it’s the complete opposite of fear.”
Kulusevski highlights one area of improvement
While Wednesday’s win was a morale-boosting one for Tottenham, Kulusevski was not too happy with the fact that his side switched off towards the end of the first-half and allowed City a route back into the game.
He added: “I’m very angry that we conceded the goal in the last second of the half, we can’t do that. It changes everything when you’re going to go in at half-time at 2-0 and then it’s 2-1.
“But we handled it well in the second half, we created so many chances and if we killed the game before it would be all over. In the end, we stayed strong and everybody contributed.”
