The New England Patriots reportedly are looking for an offensive line upgrade but were beaten out by an NFC North side.
After losing Christian Darrisaw for the season, the Vikings acquired left tackle Cam Robinson from the Jaguars. Minnesota also received a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick, and Jacksonville received a conditional 2026 fifth-round selection that can become a fourth-rounder based on playing time. Robinson entered this season in the final year of his contract.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Saturday, the Patriots “looked into” Robinson before he was dealt to the Vikings. New England also had “been in touch” with free agent offensive tackle D.J. Humphries.
The terms of the Minnesota-Jacksonville deal seemed feasible for the Patriots to match. However, they didn’t bite and are still working from the bottom to try to solidify a player at left tackle.
Robinson had a 69.4 blocking grade allowing four sacks, three hits and eight hurries, according to Pro Football Focus. The 29-year-old was part of a Jaguars offensive line that ranked 14th in pass block win rate and 23rd in run block win rate, according to ESPN.
