Kyrgyz media reported that the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan, with the help of customs services, has dismantled an international drug trafficking ring.
According to KG 24’s report late Friday, November 1, the drug network was involved in large-scale transportation of substances, including methamphetamine, across Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The report stated that a foreign national was arrested last month during an investigation in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, carrying 67,615 grams of methamphetamine valued at 300 million Kyrgyz Soms.
Kyrgyz officials reported that the arrested individual was allegedly involved in organizing the drug transport and used complex routes to evade detection.
The country’s media highlighted the police investigation leading to the disruption of this international drug network as a sign of Kyrgyzstan’s growing efforts to combat large-scale drug trafficking across Central Asian routes.
The authorities added that further investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals linked to this network.
Kyrgyzstan’s actions mark a significant step in regional anti-narcotics efforts, underscoring the country’s commitment to disrupting international drug trafficking routes.
Continued cooperation between Central Asian nations will be crucial to tackling the challenges of organized drug trafficking in the region, enhancing regional security and stability.
