SHOPPERS have rushed to buy wearable blanket bottoms to keep them warm throughout the colder months.
One customer raved that the fashionable item is “perfect for the winter” as it keeps them from turning the heating on.
A frenzy was sparked when the Australian brand The Oodie (@the_oodie) shared an announcement with their 331,000 TikTok followers.
They said their new Oodie Pants are made from the same fabric as their wearable blankets and feel like “you’re sitting on clouds.”
A video of one of their employees trying on a pair explained that the bottoms have a fleeced lining, large pockets, and are cuffed at the ankles.
The comment section was flooded with people eager to buy a pair of the bottoms and suggesting different designs.
“Yessss just what I wanted,” one person wrote.
“That looks soooo soft,” another said.
Oodie is currently offering the bottoms in grey, black, navy, musk pink, and avocado print for £45 each.
The “cosy” design is described as having a “buttery soft touch” that keeps the wearer warm when relaxing at home.
It features a drawstring waist that allows for it to be worn high or low-waisted and cuffed ankles to prevent cold chills.
Sizes range from small to 3XL and it can be easily washed in the machine.
Customers have given the pants a perfect 5-star rating and penned glowing reviews.
One person gushed about the “soft, warm, and cuddly” feel of the pants after wearing them to save on their energy bills.
“As stated in the title perfect for the winter and very comfortable would highly recommend it to anyone looking to keep warm and the heating bills down,” they said.
“P.S. I’m 6ft 6in and the 2XL/3XL are even a bit baggy on me so great for tall people.”
Property expert Joshua Houston shared his tips.
1. Curtains
“Windows are a common place for the outside cold to get into your home, this is because of small gaps that can let in air so always close your curtains as soon as it gets dark,” he said.
This simple method gives you an extra layer of warmth as it can provide a kind of “insulation” between your window and curtain.
2. Rugs
“Your floor is another area of your home where heat can be lost and can make your home feel chilly,” he continued. “You might notice on cold days, that your floor is not nice to walk on due to it freezing your feet.
“Add rugs to areas that don’t already have a carpet, this provides a layer of insulation between your bare floor and the room above.”
3. Check your insulation
Check your pipes, loft space, crawlspaces and underneath floorboards.
“Loose-fill insulation is very good for this, and is a more affordable type of insulation, with a big bag being able to be picked up for around £30,” Joshua explained.
4. Keep your internal doors closed
“Household members often gather in one room in the evening, and this is usually either the kitchen or living room,” Joshua said.
“This means you only have to heat a small area of your home, and closing the doors keeps the heat in and the cold out.”
5. Block drafts
Don’t forget to check cat flaps, chimneys and letterboxes, as they can let in cold air if they aren’t secure.
Another shopper described them as the “most comfortable pants” they’ve ever worn, while a third said they “love it” for keeping them warm when it’s cold.
“I live in a 200yr cottage in the Highlands next to the North Sea so I’d like to think I’m an expert when it comes to warm and comfy!” said another customer.
“These are sooo warm and soooo snuggly. Paired with my old reliable Oodie, I can be quite comfortable working from home with no heating on.
“For context, I’m 5ft9 and a size 16.
“I bought the L/XL and they’re more than big enough, easily reach the ankle, sit comfortably around my waist with plenty of give.”
The loungewear pants come after The Oodie gained a legion of fans with their wearable hooded blankets.
Originally priced at £65 each, the brand has slashed the price on a variety of designs to less than £40.
The clothing which has Sherpa fleece on the inside and flannel fleece on the outside has been described as an ideal Christmas gift.
