PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- If you ever wanted to fly direct to an iconic European destination straight from PDX, now is your chance.
Sunday marked the very first arrival of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines' nonstop flight from Amsterdam. With this landing, Portland is now officially the airline's 21st North American direct destination.
"Not only is it a nonstop - which is super important - but it really provides one stop and connectivity to the rest of Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa," said Port of Portland Chief Aviation Officer Dan Pippenger.
Although KLM is taking over Delta's flights, they will be offering fewer flights each week than Delta previously did.
KLM will fly three times a week between Schiphol and Portland in winter, then fly to five times a week for summer 2025.
