Madison Square Garden, NY — Boos, hisses and loud chants of “F— Donald Trump” rang out from the steps of a New York City monument just blocks away from where the Republican presidential nominee held a political rally.
The protesters who stood on the steps of the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue, blocks away from Trump Tower, called the former president a fascist, an enemy and a scab.
“Y’all, I am f------ scared,” said activist Eva from the group If Not Now. “More than that, I am furious."
“His fascism, his racism are not f------ welcome in New York City.”
The Democratic Socialists and their allies hurled dire warnings at the crowd of New Yorkers who gathered against the former president - who drew thousands to his political rally blocks away.
New York state Senator Jabari Brisport told the crowd he was sick of Trump blaming migrants and liberals for problems he said originated with Trump’s billionaire buddies.
“It’s Halloween season and I have seen some scary costumes,” said Brisport. “None scarier than the ghost of orange past."
Brisport called out Trump for calling liberals “vermin” and argued his rhetoric is blatantly fascist.
“The Trumpism you espouse, we are relegating to the trash bin of history,” said Brisport. “We need to fight against Trump and we need to hold our leaders way, way, way more accountable.”
New York Assembly Member-elect Claire Valdez called Trump the nemesis of a union town.
“Power is with the working class,” she said. “Our enemy is the f------ boss.”
New York City Comptroller Brad Lander noted Oct. 27th was the anniversary of the Tree of Life massacre in Pittsburgh, where 11 people were killed in a mass synagogue shooting, and that the venue Trump chose on this day was one Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler chose in 1939.
“He is not hiding,” said Lander. “He is trying to rub it in our faces.”
The crowd responded actively to the speakers and broke out spontaneously into a chant of “Lock him up!”
“We’re abolitionists here,” the emcee replied Sunday. “But in this case…”
