After 25 years, Patek Philippe has unveiled its first new watch collection: the Cubitus. The new luxury sports collection features three exciting models that mark a significant evolution in the brand’s offerings, including two time-and-date models— one in stainless steel and the other in a striking two-tone design— alongside a sophisticated platinum piece boasting an instantaneous large date, weekday-indication, and moon-phase display.
Long anticipated and eagerly discussed, the Cubitus collection brings a fresh perspective to Patek’s sports watch lineup while retaining familiar elements we know from the Nautilus and Aquanaut. The initial release includes:
All three models are housed an intricate thin square case, water-resistant to 30 meters and measuring 45mm diagonally, with the time-and-date variants standing at 8.3mm thick and the complicated model at 9.6mm. This instantly recognizable design demonstrates Patek’s commitment to comfort and wearability, ensuring that the watches sit elegantly on the wrist while stile maintaining their athletic traits.
Notably, while the cases are square, their corners are subtly cut and rounded, giving them an octagonal shape that adds to their visual appeal. Each case is finished to Patek’s renowned high standards, with the bold geometry of the design being enhanced by the use of contrasting finishes – “vertical satin-brushed” on the flat of the bezel and the front of the case, and polished on the bezel’s chamfer and the case flanks.
These finishing techniques require some 55 manual operations per watch, performed with the devotion to fine workmanship that distinguishes all Patek Philippe creations. The integrated metal bracelet features this same pattern of alternating finishes – vertical satin-brushed on the main links and polished on the central links.
To emphasize the strong character of the new Cubitus collection and play up its sporty air Patek Philippe enriched the dials with horizontal relief embossing known from the Nautilus and Aquanaut lines that create a fine play of light. As a signature feature of the collection, this horizontal decoration is also found on the rotors and mini-rotors of the Patek Philippe movements powering the Cubitus models, accompanied by the Genevan manufacture’s emblem, the Calatrava cross.
The technical highlight of the Cubitus collection is the Ref. 5822P-001, crafted in platinum and featuring the horological trifecta of a large date, moon phase, and day of the week— each changing instantaneously, a process that demands significant energy. To achieve this, the manufacture developed the new caliber 240 PS CI J LU self-winding movement, which consists of 353 parts and has a height of just 4.76mm, complete with a mini rotor.
Patek Philippe has filed six patent applications addressing the energy distribution for these displays and their simultaneous 18-millisecond jumps. These advancements ensure perfect alignment of the large date digits and allow for corrections of all indications at any time. The ower reserve for the 240 PS CI J LU lies between 38 and 48 hours, with a 21,600 bph rate.
The large date appears in a double aperture at 12 o’clock, utilizing two co-planar disks. The day and moon phase indicators are located at 7 o’clock, along with a small seconds counter at 4:30. The blue sunburst dial features horizontal relief embossing and applied baton-style hour markers and rounded baton-style hands.
The Ref. 5822P-001 is attached to a composite material embossed with a fabric motif, in navy blue with cream stitching and retails for $88,378.
This stunning timepiece features a sophisticated two-tone design, in which the warm hues of rose gold meet the cool sheen of stainless steel, creating a harmonious contrast that is both eye-catching and refined. The bezel and central links of the bracelet are crafted in rose gold, seamlessly juxtaposed with a caseband and lateral links in stainless steel. The alternating polished and vertical-satin-brushed finishes add depth and texture to its overall design.
The blue sunburst dial is also adorned with horizontal relief embossing. The applied baton-style hour markers and rounded baton-style hands, all rendered in rose gold and treated with white luminescent coating, ensure that time is easily read in any lighting condition. A delicate rose gold frame encircles the date aperture at 3 o’clock, adding a touch of sophistication to this functional feature.
The Cubitus Reference 5821/1AR-001 is powered by the caliber 26-330 S C self-winding movement, a refined evolution of the original caliber 26-330 introduced in 2019. This movement offers a power reserve between 35 and 45 hours and is equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism, allowing for precise synchronization to within one second of a time signal. Its innovative winding system further highlights Patek Philippe’s commitment to technical excellence. Peering through the transparent sapphire-crystal case back reveals the intricate architecture of the movement. Patek Philippe aficionados will appreciate the meticulous finishing and decoration of its components, particularly the central rotor made of 21K gold, which features the same horizontal motif as the dial, creating a cohesive aesthetic throughout.

The steel-on-steel Cubitus boasts a striking olive green dial with applied baton-style hour markers and rounded hands, all crafted from white gold and coated with luminescent material, ensuring excellent legibility. Here, the date aperture is framed in white gold in accordance with the color way.
Powering this model is the caliber 26-330 S C self-winding movement, the same as in the Cubitus Reference 5821/1AR-001. The central rotor, made of 21K gold and featuring a horizontal motif, underscores its craftsmanship.
Here too, the bracelet is equipped with a lockable size-adjustment system and a patented Patek Philippe fold-over clasp, secured by four independent catches for both comfort and safety.
