PFL Battle of the Giants live blog: Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira
This is the PFL Battle of the Giants live blog for Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira, the heavyweight main event this Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The current lineal heavyweight champion of MMA, Ngannou has not competed inside the cage since January of 2022, when he successfully defended his UFC heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane. “The Predator” joined the PFL a year later, but instead pursued his ambitions in boxing, losing a close fight to Tyson Fury before getting brutally knocked out by Anthony Joshua earlier this year. Now Ngannou makes his long-awaited PFL debut and hopes to remind fans why he’s the “Baddest Man on the Planet.”
Ferreira has been a PFL fighter since 2021 and saw ups and downs during his run with the promotion early on. That all changed last year when Ferreira scored three straight knockout wins to claim the 2023 heavyweight title. Ferreira then built on that momentum with a 21-second knockout of Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader back in February and now hopes to stake his claim to being the top heavyweight in the world.
