Julen Lopetegui has offered his opinion on what has happened to Tottenham since Ange Postecoglou arrived through the door – and he is a fan.
There have undeniably been a lot of concrete improvements to Tottenham’s style of play and the culture at the club since Postecoglou arrived through the door.
However, the jury is still very much out on whether his methods can succeed in the Premier League, with people continuing to accuse him of naivety and suggesting that he should be more pragmatic.
Lopetegui has now praised the work that his Tottenham counterpart has done, insisting that the Lilywhites have become a much better side under his tutelage.
The West Ham boss admitted that his side have to be at their best to come away with a result from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He said (via West Ham’s official website): “I think Ange changed a lot of things in their team. In my opinion, he made their players and team better and that’s why I like to see this team. They work together.
“But we have to put the focus on us and have an answer because we have to be on it to get the win. Our fans will demand the best from us and this is a good thing.
“They support us always, so we have to be ready to play well, be a strong and solid team and to beat them there. It’s not easy, but we will try to do it.”
Even Postecoglou’s biggest critics would have to acknowledge that there are tangible improvements to the side, not just from when Ange took over, but also from last season.
Tottenham are creating more chances and are conceding fewer opportunities per game, but those metrics have not translated to consistent results just yet.
