DRIVERS have been left baffled by a barmy parking sign and slammed it for being “silly and misleading”.
A motorist stopped dead in their tracks after being left confused by the puzzling sign.
The sign baffled motorists and was shared on social media[/caption]They shared a picture of the unclear notice on Facebook in the hopes of interpreting its ambiguous message.
It showed a blue sign attached to a lamppost that displayed a ‘P’ parking sign with a car mounting the kerb underneath.
But beneath the emblem, the sign had no words at all, leaving the motorist stumped.
They took to Facebook after making a mistake and being slapped with a parking ticket.
The post read: “Someone help a girl out. What does this sign mean?
“I thought it meant park half on road and half on curb? Please enlighten me as I just got a bloody parking ticket.”
The sign actually indicates where vehicles may park partially on pavement.
It shows areas which are exempted from the footway parking ban, according to local councils.
These blue signs have the parking “P” and a car showing two or all wheels on the footway and/ or bay markings partly or wholly on the footway.
If a sign shows two wheels on the footway, you should park your vehicle partly on the footway within the markings.
However, if a sign shows all wheels on the footway motorists should park wholly on the footway within the markings.
Despite the sign allowing partial parking, you must park on the correct side of the sign otherwise you could still risk a fine.
You must park behind it, not in front.
There should be a near-identical sign down the road which indicates the zone where you can park.
Viewers were quick to weigh in with their opinions on the baffling sign.
One said: “I also got a ticket parking here, the sign is stupid.”
Another wrote: “Always left me scratching my head this one.”
A third simply quipped that it meant you could carry out “drunk parking”.
It comes after drivers were left confused by seemingly “incomplete” blank road signs.
Failing to comply with the unusual signage could see you slapped with a £100 fine.
