A Washington Post analyst is shocked no one is talking about a disturbing moment during former President Donald Trump's town hall dance routine — and no, it wasn't when the 78-year-old, who may have forgotten whom he's running against, wandered off stage to the sounds of "Memory."
Philip Bump on Tuesday expressed confusion that one track included in Trump's "weird" playlist — played at a town hall event in Pennsylvania a day earlier after an attendee received medical attention — hadn't caused an uproar.
"Then came a song that I am surprised has not been mentioned more in coverage of the event: 'Dixie,'" Bump wrote, "the unofficial anthem of the Confederacy!"
Bump links to NPR's coverage of "Dixie" and the history of what it calls the nation's "most derisive song."

The report details the song's origins in minstrel shows that featured white people donning Black face, its inclusion in "Birth of a Nation" (the film that helped revive the Ku Klux Klan), and its fan base of segregationists in the 1940s and 1950s.
"Played at a presidential campaign event in the year 2024!" Bump wrote. "Without anyone commenting on it!"
Bump argued that the lack of outrage suggests that the bizarre addition of "Dixie" was forgotten after Trump stepped off stage to a song from the 1983 Broadway cast recording of "Cats."
Yes, "Memory."
Trump's decision to dance to "Dixie" Monday night was made as he courts young, Black voters away from Vice President Kamala Harris, much to the frustration of former President Barack Obama.
“On the one hand, you have somebody who grew up like you, knows you, went to college with you, understands the struggles and pain and joy that comes from those experiences,” Obama said in an address to Black male voters Thursday.
"On the other side, you have someone who has consistently shown disregard, not just for the communities, but for you as a person.”
Three days later, Trump supporters arrived at a boat rally waving Swastika flags and shouting “Make America White Again.”
