The Jets already have made two significant roster moves this month, and another one could be on the horizon.
New York fired head coach Robert Saleh and reportedly acquired star wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders in the span of a week. The Adams trade, reported Tuesday morning, dominated headlines. But it wasn’t the only piece of significant New York news the day after it dropped to 2-4 with a loss to the Buffalo Bills.
The Jets have given Haason Reddick “a short window” to look for a trade, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. Gang Green gave up a conditional third-round pick to pry Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles on April 1, but the star pass-rusher has yet to join New York. The contract standoff has led to a jarring accrual of fines for Reddick, who recently was ditched by his agency and hired Drew Rosenhaus for representation.
According to Russini, Rosenhaus has been “reaching out to teams” to generate a feeling of interest in the 2017 No. 13 overall pick. There’s no denying Reddick’s talent — he logged a combined 50.5 sacks the last four seasons — but teams might not be willing to offer the contract he covets, especially after all of the drama in the Meadowlands.
Nonetheless, the Jets front office figures to remain busy while the players try to turn the season around.
