Iranian media reported that three Afghan citizens lost their lives in a fire in Tehran, Iran.
Iranian officials stated that the fire occurred on Monday, October 14, at the Shadabad iron market in Tehran.
Authorities added that the identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed, but investigations into identifying the bodies are underway.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, but some eyewitnesses reported that it started when spray paint cans ignited.
According to reports, nearly 100 shops in the market were set ablaze, and three Afghan workers tragically died in the fire.
It is worth noting that Iranian authorities have not yet officially confirmed the identities of the three individuals who perished in the incident.
This is not the first time Afghan workers have lost their lives in various incidents in Iran.
Afghan refugees in Iran face not only dangerous working conditions but also increasing vulnerability due to their precarious legal status.
Forced deportations amid an ongoing humanitarian crisis have further exacerbated their plight, making it difficult for them to access safety and basic rights.
