The Vees kick off the BCHL Showcase Tuesday night at the Abbotsford Centre against Okotoks. Penticton is looking for a fifth-straight win after a 4-2 victory last Friday night over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Luke Posthumus recorded the game winner in the third period on a Vees power play before Nolan Stevenson sealed it with a last-minute empty netter.
Perhaps the most complete effort of the season to date for Penticton leads them into a busy week of road games split between the Fraser Valley and Central Alberta. Their first test of the week at the Showcase comes in the form of the Okotoks Oilers, who the Vees have seen once already this season in their home opener on October 4th. In that game the home team picked up a convincing 5-1 victory over a road wary Oilers squad in a game that they controlled from the outset.
Anselmo Rego continues to lead by example for Penticton, collecting one assist Friday night to stay atop the team scoring race heading into this week. The second year forward from Brampton, Ontario, now has nine points (3-6-9) in seven games. He has a point in each game the Vees have played this season and has been the team’s workhorse on the forecheck thus far.
In between the pipes it’s largely been up to Will Ingemann for the Vees through seven games, with the 19-year-old from Minnesota earning decisions in six of the seven games for Penticton this season. His goaltending partner, Andrew Ness, could be due for a start in one of the two games at the BCHL Showcase this week, and it very well could be tonight against Okotoks.

Last Game: 6-3 win vs Prince George, October 11th
Home: 2-1-0-0
Away: 0-4-0-0
GF: 20
GA: 30
Power Play: 3/33 (9.01%, 20th in BCHL)
Penalty Kill: 19/29 (65.5%, 20th in BCHL)
Scoring Leader: Jackson Rowland (4-3-7)
For the Oilers it’s been a tough start to their inaugural BCHL season as they find themselves off to a 2-5 start through their first seven games. They’ve seen some extremely tough competition thus far, having seen Brooks and Cranbrook twice each as well as Penticton and Salmon Arm on an interior road trip. They enter the showcase on a winning note, however, after picking up a 6-3 victory at home last Friday against the Prince George Spruce Kings.
Team captain Jackson Rowland leads the way on the scoresheet for the Oil with four goals and seven points in the team’s first seven games. The 20-year-old from Calgary has averaged nearly a point per game since the Oilers joined the BCHL midway through last season, including eight points (3-5-8) in ten playoff games during the 2024 Alberta Division Playoffs. His current point streak sits at four games heading into the BCHL Showcase.
Olivier Ciarlo continues to shoulder the goaltending load for Okotoks, playing five of the first seven games. Simon Westling was the goaltender of record on the only meeting of the season between the Oilers and the Vees, but expect Ciarlo to take the crease Tuesday night at Abbotsford Centre after a big win on Friday at home.
Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm PDT from the Abbotsford Centre as both teams get set for their first game of the BCHL Showcase. You can follow all the action live on FloHockey or locally on radio thanks to the official broadcast partners of the Penticton Vees, Bounce 800 AM.
