A power outage will take place at the Nicosia general hospital on Thursday from 6am to 7.30am due to scheduled maintenance work, state health service Okypy warned on Tuesday.
The power cut will affect the accident and emergency department, which will operate with only five beds for one and a half hours and will only handle life-threatening situations.
Okypy also announced that from midnight until the completion of the work, non-urgent cases will be redirected to other A&E departments contracted with the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) to ensure that patients already at the hospital are managed.
The paediatric A&E department will operate as normal, but some delays may occur during the power outage, Okypy said.
