VATICAN, La. (KLFY) -- Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that killed an unidentified bicyclist in Lafayette Parish over the weekend.
Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating the fatal hit-and-run crash just after midnight Saturday near the intersection of La. 93 and Vatican Road in Lafayette Parish, authorities said.
State Police spokesperson Peggy Bourque said LSP is reviewing video and other evidence, but the identity of the victim or other details of the incident cannot be released at this time "because of the complexity of this investigation."
"We fully recognize the public's interest in this case and have been in close communication with the family," Bourque said. "Our foremost priority is to ensure justice is served while maintaining the integrity of the investigation."
