Ariana Grande was in full-on Glinda mode on Oct. 12 when she hosted “Saturday Night Live,” appearing in several outfits at 30 Rock, including a light pink Rodarte outfit and custom Aldo pumps inspired by the upcoming Wicked x Aldo collection.
Grande, who plays the “good witch” in the forthcoming screen adaptation of the hit Broadway show, has been method dressing in recent months as the film’s release date draws near. Styled by Mimi Cuttrell for the evening, her on-theme Rodarte ensemble included a voluminous ruffled tulle skirt and a corset with a glossy bow in front. The ruched tulle made an appearance at the top of the outfit as well, serving as an oversized sleeve-like feature. The look hails from Rodarte’s spring/summer 2019 collection. In another Glinda nod, Grande also wore a strapless vintage Mugler gown in a deeper shade of pink during the night.
Grande modeled a monochrome aesthetic with her Rodarte and Aldo combination. She slipped on a pair of bespoke pumps in a satiny blush shade that perfectly matched her Rodarte dress. The classic shoes featured a pointed toe and traditional pump silhouette that left the top of the foot exposed save for the toes. While these were made for Grande in particular, they drew inspiration from the Aldo x Wicked collection, which is set to release on Oct. 17. The collection includes plenty of footwear and accessories inspired by Glinda and Elphaba, ranging from light pink heeled sandals to green and black men’s sneakers.
Grande’s Glinda-inspired looks have been wowing fans for some time now. She made an appearance at the Paris Olympics this past summer wearing a Thom Browne dress with two-toned brogue pumps from the same brand to match. She looked the part again at the 2024 Oscars, where she slipped on pink Jimmy Choo Romy pumps to go with a dramatic gown.
