Police arrested two men, aged 19 and 25, at Larnaca airport on Monday after a large quantity of cannabis, weighing 35 kilos, was found in their luggage.
According to a police statement, the drugs were discovered and seized on Monday afternoon following information provided by the Ykan drig squad in collaboration with customs authorities.
“The drugs were found during a search of the luggage of two men who had arrived at Larnaca airport from another European country,” the statement said.
The 25-year-old was found in possession of four nylon packages containing 17.35 kilos of cannabis, while the 19-year-old had five nylon packages with 17.95 kilos of cannabis in his luggage.
Both men were arrested for drug-related offences and are currently in custody. The Larnaca branch of the Ykan squad is continuing the investigation.
