If there is a classical music event in Cyprus, chances are the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra is behind it. This month, a very packed season awaits as the orchestra tours the island to offer quality musical evenings and entertainment for all ages. Next week, its musicians will be in Nicosia, Larnaca and Paphos to perform Mozart and Beethoven.
The Premiere 1 concerts will see the orchestra share the stage with violinist Antonis Sousamoglou and conductor Yiorgos Kountouris. Three enchanting evenings are planned, first at Pallas Theatre in Nicosia on October 16, then at Municipal Theatre G. Lycourgos in Larnaca on October 17 and finally at Paphos’ Markideio Municipal Theatre on October 18.
“Join us for a magnificent musical evening of classical finesse and grandeur, featuring celebrated works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven, under the baton of Yiorgos Kountouris,” says the Orchestra.
“The spirited and lively Overture to ‘Le nozze di Figaro’ perfectly showcases Mozart’s incredible ability to blend energy, humour, and playful charm,” they add about the concert’s repertoire.
“The exquisite melodies and virtuosic flair of the Viennese master’s Violin Concerto no. 5 will come to life, under the superb mastery of violinist Antonis Sousamoglou. The bold and majestic energy of Beethoven’s Symphony no. 2 epitomises the splendour and depth of the German titan’s genius.”
