Mets, Dodgers Announce NLCS Rosters

After defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Division Series, the New York Mets set themselves up for a date with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. That seven-game set is slated to begin on Sunday, thus, each team released their respective NLCS rosters early Sunday afternoon.

Here is how the Mets are choosing to proceed:

Analysis

The crew remains the same it has since the National League Wild Card series outside one addition. After successfully rehabbing from a broken wrist, Jeff McNeil was added to the roster. McNeil had 10 plate appearances in the Arizona Fall League over the last couple days to help confirm that he is good to go.

Analysis

Like the position players, there was only one change from the previous round. The Mets left off reliever Adam Ottavino in favor of the above mentioned McNeil. Ottavino struggled in the regular season, and despite being on the playoff roster against the Phillies in the NLDS, did not make an appearance. So, New York is carrying one less pitcher than they did against the Phillies.

Dodgers Notes

Of note, left-handed reliever Alex Vesia was left off due to injury. He was huge for the Dodgers this year, posting an 1.76 ERA and 219 ERA+ across 66 1/3 innings out of the bullpen this year. Infielder Miguel Rojas was also left off the roster, he went 2-for-8 in the NLDS against the San Diego Padres.

The above two were replaced by right-handed reliever Brent Honeywell Jr. (2.63 ERA across 37 2/3 innings pitched this season) and outfielder/defensive specialist Kevin Kiermaier (.550 OPS across 259 at-bats this season).

Los Angeles only has one left-handed pitcher on their NLCS roster; former Met Anthony Banda.
